Shooting Gallery Defense is now ready to download! In an effort to not release a game that was overly bug-ridden and broken, I ended up going over the deadline by 10%. Don't get me wrong, you may still find bugs and design flaws, such as a counter-intuitive menu system, but it should as least be functional. I didn't get to spend all the time that I would've liked balancing and adding in different modes, but you'll at least get to see the core experience that I envisioned when designing the game. I could tweak values for hours and hours, but that isn't the goal of these projects.
If I get a chance to later, I'll be sure and add some final screenshots of the in-game action, but here's just the download link for now, all zipped up to be around a 7.8mb download.

The only thing it seems like you can start out with is either two cats or a polar bear. Two cats can kill things in one lane no problem but then the other two lanes get free run into your base.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you go to 'buy' something and it's on your cursor, it's unclear if there's a way to cancel that action/replace it with another animal type.
Really really cute concept - little plants vs. zombies action up in here!
Be sure and check out the How to Play section :). It mentions the right mouse cancel tower selection part. I maybe didn't go a great job of explaining either, but using your tickets is the key to surviving at all. I made it a small resource pool early on in an effort to express how important those abilities are to winning. You'll find it's much more doable with those tickets.
ReplyDeleteThough if you already knew that, my beginner tip is to put 1 cat in each lane and anytime there are 2 targets in a row incoming, use the 1 ticket pellet-rifle ability to take it down. You'll earn enough resources quick for a cat in the 3rd lane, then polar bears, and so on.
Those are details that I would've liked to have clarified with a quick mini-tutorial in-game instead of just a bunch of text on a separate screen, but you know, time and stuff.
And thanks for checking out, my friend!
